ATSs are garnering more interest as they continue to innovate and provide comprehensive offerings to both retail and institutional investors, and other market participants. New ATSs have been launched and the expansion of ATSs into different asset classes beyond equities, as well as 24-hour trading, are all on the table.

At the same time, issues around ATSs are being discussed more often at the regulator level and there is a thorough examination underway around the impact that new and proposed regulations can have on the ATS landscape.
